119x90’
Land drawing
This drawing is located in Lone Pine, California, 24 miles south of the head gates of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, where the Owens River becomes an aqueduct. It is 119 feet long, 90 feet wide, and was drawn by raking dirt. It was drawn next to the Los Angeles Aqueduct, a 233 mile long watercourse that supplies Los Angeles with much of its water by intercepting water from Mono Lake and Owens River. Because Los Angeles owns the water in the aqueduct and the land surrounding the aqueduct, this drawing is on Los Angeles property despite being 215 miles away from Los Angeles.
